The Day of Neogenesis: Embracing New Life in the Power of Resurrection

Inspired by The Book of Mysteries by Jonathan Cahn

This reflection begins with a profound moment: the teacher carefully removes the Torah scroll from the ark and opens it to its very first word—B’Resheet —“In the beginning.” This word not only starts the Bible but also symbolizes the foundational act of creation.

He explained that the entire book is named after this word, and when the rabbis translated the Bible into Greek, Resheet became Genesis—the title we now know worldwide. This word signifies the beginning of everything—the universe, life, and time.

The teacher then pointed out something remarkable: Jesus rose from the dead on a Hebrew holy day—the day of the first fruits (Yom Resheet). Just as the first fruits marked the start of a new harvest, Christ’s resurrection was the first fruits of a new creation—a divine Neogenesis.

Neogenesis, he explained, is the divine act of new birth—a fresh beginning out of darkness and void. When God created the world, darkness covered the earth, and He spoke, “Let there be light,” and light appeared. Similarly, on the day of Christ’s resurrection, in the darkness of the tomb, God declared, “Let there be light,” bringing forth new life—the power of Genesis and Neogenesis.

This power is available to us today: the ability to call forth new beginnings, to be born again, and to experience divine renewal. Wherever darkness exists in our lives, the resurrection offers the power to bring forth light and new life.

Where in your life do you need a Genesis?
Declare today: “Let there be light” and receive the power of the resurrection, the Resheet, to transform every ending into a new beginning.

Scripture for Reflection:
Genesis 1:1-3** — The creation of light out of darkness.
Luke 24:4-7** — The angel at the empty tomb announcing Jesus’ resurrection.
2 Corinthians 4:6** — “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory in the face of Christ.”
2 Corinthians 5:17** — “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”

Prayer of Neogenesis

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the power of the resurrection and the gift of new life in Christ.
Please bring light into every dark area of my life and help me to walk in Your renewal.
Make all things new in me today.
In Jesus’ name, I pray.
Amen.
