Home: The Eternal Destination
Inspired by The Book of Mysteries by Jonathan Cahn
Imagine standing beneath a starlit sky, contemplating the deep longing in your heart. The teacher looks up and speaks softly:
"How strange," he says, "we're born into this world. It's the only place we've ever known. Yet, somehow, we never truly feel at home here."
We live amidst pain, sorrows, aging, loss, and darkness. Even in our best moments, something feels missing. No matter how much we achieve or how beautiful life seems, we sense this world is not our true home.
Where does the story of Passover begin?
In Egypt.
The Israelites grew up there—their home—yet they were never truly at home within it.
And what was salvation about?
Leaving Egypt, heading toward the Promised Land—their true home.
Salvation is about coming home, returning to God, and embracing the homeland He has prepared for His children.
This is the mystery of our journey:
We are not yet home.
Our hearts long for a place where there is no more sorrow, death, or evil—a place of eternal peace.
Why aren’t we at home in this world?
Because this world is not our home.
Our hearts are made for something greater—for eternity with God in the Promised Land, heaven.
Our salvation begins with Passover, not just as freedom from slavery, but as the journey back to God—home.
Home is where our hearts were originally meant to dwell—a place of no more tears, no more dying, no more imperfection.
It is the eternal Promised Land, heaven—a place we’ve never truly been, but long for.
But when will we finally be home?
When we arrive in heaven, in the presence of God, where nothing passes away and nothing grows old.
Yes, said the teacher, when we see Him face to face, that will be the true homecoming.
And for the first time in our lives, we will be truly home.
The Mission:
Live today with the awareness that you are not yet home.
Set your heart away from what is not eternal—the fleeting things of this world—and toward the eternal home prepared for you by God.
Remember:
Our hearts are restless until they find rest in Him.
John 17:16 — "They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world."
Psalm 46:4-5 — "There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall."
Hebrews 13:14 — "For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come."
John 14:1-3 — "Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms... I go to prepare a place for you."
Take heart.
Your true home awaits. Today, set your heart on eternity, and live with the hope that we are journeying toward our everlasting home—where nothing passes away, and God's love endures forever.
