Galatians 2:20
Galatians 2:20 is a powerful and personal declaration of our identity in Christ. When Paul says, “I have been crucified with Christ,” he’s expressing that through faith, our old self — our sinful nature, doubts, fears, and depression — has been put to death. It’s no longer the controlling force in our lives. Instead, Christ lives in us, meaning His Spirit now guides, sustains, and renews us.
The phrase “the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God” reminds us that our daily existence is rooted in trusting Jesus. It’s not about relying on our strength or circumstances but leaning on His love and power. The fact that Christ “loved me and gave Himself for me” personalizes this truth — His sacrifice was for you, for me. It’s a reminder that we are deeply loved, valued, and redeemed.
In times of discouragement or depression, this verse encourages us to see ourselves through Christ’s eyes. Our old burdens, shame, and despair have been crucified with Him. His love is the foundation of our new life — a life rooted in faith, hope, and the assurance that we are not alone. We are alive in Christ, with His life flowing through us, giving us strength to face each day with confidence and peace.
